A Child's Place - Charlotte, NC

Addresses the academic needs of homeless children within our community and prepares students to succeed academically and contribute to the community in a positive manner.

The Butterfly Bin provides furnishings to families of children who previously have lived in shelters, hotels, and other transitional housing.   A Child's Place has an intense program for parents to learn parenting skills, find work, & move into homes.  Then, we fill their homes with hope....and as many books as we can stuff in the car!

Ada Jenkins - Davidson, NC

Serves low-income families in the north Mecklenburg and south Iredell areas that are unable to access services in Charlotte or Statesville. Many clients are women with children or families that could be classified as the working poor.

Ada Jenkins is  a community clearinghouse for many services, including Loaves & Fishes, job placement, afterschool tutoring, computer training, and Lydia's Loft (the free clothing store where we take all of the clothing that accidentally ends up at the Bin.)  Many of the clients who go to the Ada Jenkins Center need various types of assistance, and furniture often plays into the scene.

Changed Choices Inc. - Charlotte, NC

To provide for recently incarcerated women, who demonstrate a high capacity for complete rehabilitation, a holistic approach that will enable them to reach their full potential by making positive changes in their lives.

The Butterfly Bin provides services to women at the end of this rehabilitation program for transitioning to life after incarceration.  The program is intense and is a way for women to leave their past behind as they look to the future.  Isn't the "butterfly" a fitting image?

Community CASCADE - Charlotte, NC

Provides care for substance abusing pregnant women and their children through holistic treatment programs.

CCI-Cascade is an intense program for women who are making a better life for their children by committing to get off drugs.  After successful completion of this program, they are given a voucher to the Butterfly Bin to assist in setting up their new home.

Florence Crittenton - Charlotte, NC

One of the largest comprehensive residential problem pregnancy programs in the US. Meeting their complex needs with a safe environment during pregnancy, social skills training and counseling as well as many other programs.

The young women who come to us live in the residential program at Florence Crittenton until their baby is born and sometimes afterwards.  We can always use baby items & cribs for these mommas!

Refugee Resettlement - Charlotte, NC

Resettles refugees from different parts of the world to escape oppression in their countries. They provide basic services of pre-arrival planning and post-arrival services.

Can you imagine leaving everything you own and almost everyone you know behind, never to be seen again?  That's what these refugees face as they begin their new life in Charlotte.  These are people who bring much to our community, & it's always a joy to meet them as they "shop" for their new homes.

Solomon House - Huntersville, NC

The Solomon House offers personal health education, classes and support groups, assistance in monitoring ongoing health issues, health screenings, exercise programs, Bible studies, prayer walking and patient information in English and Spanish to families and individuals in the Lake Norman area

The clients who come to us from the Solomon House represent a cross-section of the LKN community.  Often, the shoppers from Solomon House are part of the Prenatal program and in need of baby items.

Youth Homes, Inc. - Charlotte, NC

Provides foster care for youth in DSS custody including recruiting, licensing, and managing the families and the children, family preservation, reunification and independent living services.

Although at times foster families need beds, the majority of the shoppers from Youth Homes are the youth who "age out" of foster care.  What this means is: once they turn 18, they are in their own apartment or home.  While Youth Homes follows them into their early 20s, financial resources are thin once they "age out," so these working teens provide for themselves.  We are always eager to make sure they get all they need and then some.  (And they are also the shoppers who usually stay for hours to help others load their trucks, too!)

Churches in the area that provide vouchers to members of their church community in need.
